Portal Feeder Comments - The Most Often Asked Questions At Portal Feeder

One of the biggest Portal Feeder comments we hear is concerning keyword research. No matter how many times you explain researching keywords it still confuses a lot of people who will often let it hold up there progress.

In fact, this area of internet marketing seems to be responsible for a lot of the paralysis analysis which hurts the progress of many budding internet marketers. The truth is, keyword research is important, very important in fact, get it wrong and an entire campaign will count for nothing as far as the bottom line is concerned.

However, it doesn’t need to be complicated. Really, it’s simple and one of the keys to getting it right is understanding what the theme of your market is.

Theme? Yes, because once you understand this it can mean the difference between getting sales or just getting people surfing your sites. So in this article, I want to explain what we mean by identifying the theme of your market and when you understand this, go back and check campaigns you have running, either paid or organic and run this system over them.

How To Judge Your Market’s Theme

Let’s start. We’re looking for a common theme when we are presented by a list of keywords. You can use any free tool for this exercise.

We are using the search term “menopause.” First impressions indicate most people searching for menopause will be looking for a cure or treatment. I’m using Wordtracker’s free tool. Here’s the list of top ten results:

menopause
menopause symptoms
34 menopause symptoms
symptoms of menopause
menopause the musical
male menopause
early menopause symptoms
signs of menopause
how long does menopause last
male menopause symptoms

What’s the first thing you notice? If you said the word symptoms then you’re right. You see, I assumed people would be looking for a cure and as there is no cure then treatment of this syndrome. But the results indicate people want to know what the symptoms are and what is menopause ahead of treatment.

Six of the top ten results relate to symptoms which means targeting this symptoms as the theme will be the sensible way to go. You can now construct your articles around menopause symptoms and if you are using article marketing, then you have a list of keywords to concentrate on for your promotions.

It’s a classic case of people looking to identify a problem before they can start looking for a solution to it and by giving them the information they want, you can then get them to opt into your list and then you can provide them with treatment options by way of affiliate products.

So in summing up, when you initially look at a list of keywords, try to identify what the theme of the list is before looking at individual keywords first. The first 10-20 results will often indicate exactly what it is people within that particular niche are more concerned about above anything else.

Remember, the PortalFeeder launch is happening soon and if you want to be kept in the loop about when it’s re-opening and what you need to do, make sure to get on the Portal Feeder notification list and look out for more great tips right here.

Keyword Research Tips - How To Smash Analysis Paralysis During Market Research

One of the biggest stumbling blocks people have is niche and keyword research. In this article, we will concentrate on the theme of the niche and suggest that if you can figure this out, then you are on the way to increasing your bottom line with these keyword research tips.

Analysis paralysis is the number one killer for internet marketers. It comes about because of two things:

- a fear factor
- people want to get it right the first time

But there is a way to cut down the effects of this. Assessing the theme of the niche you are looking at to figure out exactly what it is people are looking for will make deciding the direction you want to head in much easier.

There are some great keyword tools around - Micro Niche Finder, Traffic Travis, Keyword Elite and PortalFeeder’s secret weapon, PPC Kahuna. Here’s the first thing you want to do. Pick a keyword tool and stick with it. Make it the foundation of your tool usage.

Keyword Research Tips

But for the point of this exercise, we are going to use a free tool and will be searching on the term “yeast infection.” The free tool - the Google search box! Let’s start and see if we can figure out the theme surrounding the search for this term. Here’s our top ten results:

yeast infection symptoms
yeast infection treatment
yeast infection in men
yeast infection causes
yeast infection during pregnancy
yeast infection pictures
yeast infection home remedy
yeast infection pregnancy
yeast infection cure
yeast infection medication

So the first thought I had when entering this niche was people would want to know what the symptoms were ahead of anything else. There is one result for the top ten for symptoms with causes and yeast infection in men and during pregnancy possibly relating to this. So this would be a solid angle to take with this niche.

But what “stands out like a sore thumb” is the fact people are wanting to get rid of their yeast infection with terms such as treatment, remedy, cure and medication strongly represented. Si in doing a quick analyzation of this niche, I would go down the route of being the solutions provider rather than the problem identifier.

Can you see what we are getting at here? You have your niche but are not sure how to approach it. Using this method can quickly identify the theme most dominant in this niche and which direction to head within it. And the first 10-15 results will usually give you a clue to what people are really the most interested about within a niche.

Now you can start doing your main keyword research and building on the four solution indicators we found:

yeast infection treatment
yeast infection home remedy
yeast infection cure
yeast infection medication

Run these through your keyword tool and start building your list. This is an excellent method for article marketing in identifying those juicy long tail phrases which are extremely targeted.

This is just a small sample of the training you receive at PortalFeeder. Keyword research is covered in great depth but simplified to a point where analysis paralysis is kept to a minimum.
