The truth was, some of the products I’d bought were okay; problem was, as an online newcomer, I needed guidance more than products and no one was really willing to give up their time and show me the ropes from the ground up. That is, until Portal Feeder “fell in my lap.”

It was my last shot at glory and I could not have predicted what was to follow. Almost immediately Jason Potash, Jason Katzenback and Marc Quarles, Portal Feeder’s founders, went to work on their members; educating, advising and teaching. They provided some amazing promotional tools, the best forum environment in online marketing and of course, the revolutionary software. I learnt how to build a website from the ground up and how to get loads of traffic to it. And best of all, I started making money!

Having seen my fair share of press releases over time as a journalist, the ones which seemed to gain our attention were the ones which were able to answer the who, what, where, when and why. Even if they were a promotion, the fact they weren’t a blatant advertisement would always get our attention.

4. Always try and use real life points that will illustrate how you or your service solved a problem. You could identify a problem and then explain why your product or site can solve it. Never exaggerate.

5. Try and relate your story to something going on in the world right now. For example, it could relate to the current state of the economy. If you have a home business opportunity relate, it to the frail economy. Mention the problem and then why you have the solution. Mention benefits.

6. Your language should be plain. Avoid using unnatural language.
